Book and pass the separate CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives. This is different from the qualification exam included in your SuperSkills bundle.
4. Apply for Your Green CSCS Card
Once you have passed the course and exam, apply for your Green Labourer Card through the official My CSCS app and pay the separate £36 application fee.

What our customers say

“Big up Peter”
“Peter is extremely helpful. I failed the first time around due to my face not being visible on the webcam for a split second. Peter went out of his way to get my results sped up the second time.”

Common questions about the course and Green CSCS card
1. Is this qualification recognised?
Yes. After passing the qualification exam, you will receive the ETCAL Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment, awarded by ETC Awards Limited.
ETCAL is listed by CSCS as an awarding organisation whose Level 1 Award can be used as part of an application for the Green CSCS Labourer Card. You will also need to pass the separate CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test for Operatives.
2. What does the £110 price include?
The price includes:
- The online training course
- The online qualification exam
- Your qualification certificate after you pass
- Personal support from SuperSkills
The separate CITB test and CSCS card application are not included.
3. What is the total cost of getting the card?
The SuperSkills course and exam bundle costs £110 including VAT.
You must also pay separately for:
- CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test: currently £23.50
- CSCS card application: currently £36
That makes the current overall cost £169.50. Fees charged by CITB or CSCS may change, so check the current price when booking. Always book the test directly with CITB and apply for the card through the ‘official CSCS free ‘MyCSCS‘ app, available for Android and iPhone.
4. Can I claim these costs as a business expense?
If you are self-employed and already work in construction, the course, exams and CSCS card application may be allowable business expenses when they are needed for your existing work.
An allowable expense reduces the profit on which you pay tax. It does not mean that HMRC refunds the full cost.
Different rules may apply if you are taking the qualification to start a new business or enter an unrelated area of work. Employees who pay for their own training also face stricter rules.
Ask your accountant or HMRC if you are unsure about your circumstances.
5. What happens if I do not pass the qualification exam?
Contact SuperSkills and we will explain what went wrong and help you arrange another attempt.
A resit costs £60 including VAT. We keep this below the recommended price and charge it on a cost-recovery basis, without adding a profit margin.
6. Can I complete the course on my phone or tablet?
Yes. You can complete the training using a phone, tablet or computer.
For the qualification exam, you will need:
- A desktop or laptop
- A working webcam
- Photo ID
- A stable internet connection
- An up-to-date version of Google Chrome
If you are unsure whether your equipment is suitable, contact us before booking.
7. What if I am not confident using computers?
The online training is designed to be straightforward, and SuperSkills can help if you get stuck.
However, you must be able to complete the course online and use a desktop or laptop for the remotely invigilated exam. Call us before booking if you are unsure whether the course is suitable for you.
8. Why do I need both the qualification exam and the CITB test?
They are two different requirements.
The SuperSkills qualification exam allows you to gain the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.
The separate CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test checks your current health and safety knowledge. You normally need both the qualification and the CITB test before applying for a Green CSCS Labourer Card.
9. Can I pay in instalments?
PayPal Pay in 3 may be offered when you reach the PayPal checkout. Availability is subject to eligibility, status and PayPal’s approval.
SuperSkills does not decide whether Pay in 3 is offered or administer the credit agreement. Pay in 3 is a credit agreement, so consider whether you can afford the repayments before applying.
10. How long will my certificate take?
After you pass, the result must be checked and processed before your qualification certificate is issued.
ETC Awards has a service standard of 10 days, although certificates are often issued more quickly. SuperSkills will keep you informed and help if there is an unexpected delay.
11. Does the Level 1 qualification expire?
No. The Level 1 Award is a lifetime qualification and does not normally need to be taken again when you renew your Labourer Card.
The initial Green CSCS Labourer Card is currently valid for two years. It can then be renewed for five years if you provide evidence that you are still working in a labouring role.
