The NVQ Level 2 Tiling assessment process is carried out under personal attention provided by one of our experienced Tiling assessors, who will make all the arrangements necessary to help you achieve the qualification in as short a time as possible.
A most important point – – NVQ’s (the letters stand for National Vocational Qualification) involve your work being assessed in the workplace. You cannot get your NVQ by just attending a training programme and you cannot just start getting assessed in a workplace until you have built up some experience. See why knowing that is important.
There are two ways we can get you the NVQ:
1) On Site Assessment and Training
This is suitable for people who have more than three years experience as Wall & Floor Tilers, but less than is required for them to be able to get their qualification by Practical Assessment. (However, if you are very experienced, but want to be assessed in the workplace, we are always able to come and do this.)
Our quick, simple and convenient approach will assess your skills as a Tiler and compare these to the requirements of the qualification.
This is done against the National Occupational Standards, laid down by the CITB.
This will establish the “gap” between your skills and those required for the NVQ Level 2 in Wall and Floor Tiling. He or she then agrees an Individual Learning Plan with you.
The Assessor will continue to visit you, give you on-the-job training and undertake assessments of your work.
At the same time, you will be building a file of evidence with photographs and any references you get from other trades. Once the evidence is there to show you are operating at the standard of a Skilled Worker, the assessments finish.
Then you will be awarded your NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Wall & Floor Tiling.
You can see full details of the On Site Assessment and Training we use for Tiling NVQ Level 2 courses here.
Following the training and assessment process, you will have an internationally recognised qualification, clearly demonstrating your capabilities to both home owners and employers.
2) Experienced Worker Practical Assessment
This is by far the best way for very experienced tilers to get their NVQ Level 2.
It is only available to people who have at least five years experience undertaking a full range of Wall & Floor Tiling. They must be people who do not require any further training to be regarded as working at NVQ Level 2 standard.
All the evidence is gathered in one session, by a combination of Workplace Testimony – people in the trades who know your work saying they have seen you working to the right standard across the range of tiling tasks.
The Practical Assessment is held at our premises in Thirsk and you will undertake a Wall & Floor Tiling exercise under timed and observed conditions. You will also have a detailed interview (known as a Professional Discussion) with your Assessor.
